With their roots grounded in the native brook trout streams of Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains, the Headwaters Series rods are specialty pieces designed for the tight spaces and wee trout found in the upper reaches of trout environments.

These are short rods that can weave under the canopy of hemlock and rhododendron to present a fly to native fish in small pools. They have tight loop capability and are for the most part designed to handle a variety of fly sizes. The six foot three-piece model breaks down into a small package for transport in the back country. It carries a weight four line and with a weight forward taper can manage a small streamer, a size 12 Humpy, as well as a size 20 ant.

The two five foot one-piece models are a true joy to fish in these tiny streams. The one for three weight line provides delicacy and tight loop presentation for flies in the size 14 and smaller range. For more versatility, a five foot one-piece model for a five weight line is offered. This line weight permits the use of small streamers and larger dry flies which are a poor fit with a three weight. This is a small powerful rod.

All of these models are specialty pieces and are not designed to be a rod for all seasons. But, in the headwaters, they are unparalleled. The Headwaters Series are available in the following models:

6 foot 3-piece 4 weight line | 5 foot 1-piece 3 weight line | 5 foot 1-piece 5 weight line

NEW: 6.5 foot 3-piece 5 weight line | NEW: 6.5 foot 3-piece 4/5 weight line
